More on Yachats

Here's a place that looks like it can accomodate everyone in Yachats. John and I have each had conversations with people who have been to Yachats and they have very positive things to say including that the tide pools are amazing. Problem to consider is that it's 2.5 hrs. from Portland whereas staying up north in Manzanita near Canon Beach is only 1.5 hrs. from Portland. So something to consider if folks want to take a day trip into Portland during the week we're lounging on the beach, hiking and sightseeing... Anyone up for surfing?

Yachats, anyone?

Update on places to stay on the Oregon coast based on information from two reliable sources--rving 80 year old neighbors who spent a month in Bandan last summer and have been up and down the coast in their many years together and from our friend Jim Moore (married to our friend Bev Burge from Wellington, OH and proud OSU alum) who worked for the forest service for many years in OR--Lincoln City and Newport are too touristy although Rogue brewery is a draw in Newport. So we will continue to investigate other locations nearby because there are some interesting side trips to be had near both.
Yachats came up as an option but we don't want to get too far from Portland. The vrbo options in Newport are limited especially when trying to find a large enough rental to accommodate us (along with any assorted friends) that is reasonably priced. So we'll keep looking...

It's All Relatives

This blog is for the Ehrman relatives who admit to knowing each other. We thought it would be a good alternative to e-mail to help us plan the August OR Thanksgiving. We can post photos, argue about the location/menu and lobby for the site of our debauchery. Future enhancements to this blog will follow (once we figure out how to do them!). It can also be a place to keep in touch and share our daily exploits.

Here's the link to the place Janie mentioned in Lincoln City, OR.

The place is called Overlook, "A collection of charming individual apartments, overlooking miles of sandy beach."

Vacation Rental by Owner www.vrbo.com is a good place to look for a large house where we can stay either in Portland and/or somewhere on the coast. Remember the dates are August 2-8, 2009.
